Wanted: Technical Specialist Optical to expand our portfolio of optical instruments for earth observation and other applications.

Job description

For our Optical Engineering team we are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive specialist. As Technical Specialist (Optical) at ADSN you will get ample opportunity to develop in your field, and to work on interesting and challenging projects.

You give specialist contribution to the technical volume of proposals.

In the projects you contribute to the analysis, specification, designing, and verification of (sub)systems and/or components, and the associated documentation. In general you will work in a multidisciplinary team. You solve design problems in consultation with fellow specialists, the customer, and subcontractors. You can define, analyse, and check optical designs, and write specifications for the necessary components. You define test methods for breadboard setups and/or (sub)systems. You evaluate the test results and capture the outcome in test reports.

In addition to your project work we expect you to actively follow the developments in your discipline, and to inform and advise your colleagues and team leader. You initiate and execute research activities relating to new developments.


What it takes
You have a BSc or higher in physics, applied physics, optics, or a similar subject. You have experience with Zemax, Code V, FRED and/or Matlab. You can assess the manufacturability of optical systems, both ours and our (strategic) partners'.

You are a flexible and creative person who collaborates constructively with colleagues, (strategic) partners, and customers. You are meticulous and results-oriented. You are capable of planning and structuring your own tasks. You express yourself well in English, both oral and written (knowledge of or willingness to learn Dutch is a plus). In addition you possess good analytical and communicative skills. You recognise yourself in the following profile:

- Independent / Open minded / Curious / Driven

- Capable of mastering S/W tools in a short time, and applying them efficiently

- Broad interest, capable of thinking outside your own discipline

- Capable of mentoring colleagues within your discipline

- Capable of sharing knowledge with colleagues, both within and outside your discipline

- Potential and ambition to grow to senior specialist in the optics discipline
